So much is being written by experts and think tanks on the COVID 19 pandemic and its likely impacts on various aspects of our multifaceted and multidimensional world and existence. Pandemics have happened before – but perhaps not at such a global scale or with such high rates of transmission or so baffling a character. The World is being held in a siege. Did we ever imagine a Black Swan as this, would imprison us in our homes and alter the rules of our existence? Even as so many things are tenuous, to conjecture what things will be when the world returns to the “New Normal” is walking on uncertain terrain. If we see human behavior when lockdowns are eased- disregard for masks, social distancing, maybe the New Normal may not be very different from old Normal? It’s just a matter of time, once the vaccine comes and we see the end of social distancing and dangers of contagion. Public memory is also short, some say. We might be left grappling with the various economic, social and political problems that prevailed B.C. ( before Covid- 19 ), only now, add a big compounding factor due to the pandemic’s disruptive effects. ….
